What we do

Pick your problem

Why Black Ops

Before you pick up the phone

First, why anyone trusts us

We evaluate the whole system and show you what we found, photographed, with the old parts kept if you want them. If a repair will hold, we say so. Every review on this page links to the Google review it came from.

Then, what we actually do

Florida certified plumbing contractor CFC1431007, with over 100 years of combined experience. Polybutylene repipes, water heaters, drains and cast iron, for homes and for commercial buildings.

Then stop waiting and call

Call any time. On an emergency we tell you on that call whether a technician can get to you tonight.

1 of 3 · Inside the tank

The appliance nobody ever looks at

It heats and cools a tank of water every day of its life, in a garage or a closet, out of sight. Everything that decides how long it lasts is in there.

Life8 to 12 yr
Under 8 yrUsually a repair
2 of 3 · Anode rod

One part in here is built to be eaten

Most tanks here are glass lined steel, and corrosion goes after this rod instead of the steel. When the rod is gone the steel is next, and nothing on the outside tells you that. Stainless and plastic tanks carry no rod at all.

Replace at3 to 5 yr
Buys you5+ years
3 of 3 · The bottom of the tank

This is what a yearly flush takes out

Hard water drops scale onto the floor of the tank until it buries the element. One flush a year takes it out through this valve. The full cutaway on the water heater page walks the rest of it part by part.

Corroded cast iron drain pipe bore
1945 to 1975 homes

Cast iron rusts from the inside out

The pipe looks fine from outside right up until the floor does not. Camera first, so the scope is real.

Cleared, then proven

We scope the line before we quote it

Clear it without finding out why and you buy the same visit three times. A camera tells us what the pipe actually looks like inside.

1 of 7 · The system

Every house hides the same system

A network behind the drywall, under pressure all day, every day.

Blue is cold, orange is hot

Cold enters at the meter and feeds every fixture. Hot loses heat to every foot it crosses.

Copper under concrete. You do not see it. You hear the meter run and feel a warm patch on the floor.

The joints go first

Failures happen where two pieces meet. Under a sink it drips into the cabinet. Inside a wall it does not.

The heater rusts from the base

Once the tank itself is leaking there is no repair. That is the one that floods a garage.

Roots find the sewer line

They enter at a joint and fill the pipe. The first sign is the lowest drain in the house backing up.

If water is coming in right now

Three things to do before you call anyone

If nothing is leaking, skip this. If something is, this is the order.

Step one

Find your main shut off

Street side near the hose bib, or a green box at the curb. Turn it clockwise until it stops.

Step two

Kill power to the water heater

If the leak is near it, switch the breaker off. An element firing in an empty tank is a far bigger bill.

Step three

Photograph everything

Before you mop. On an insurance claim those photos are the difference between covered and denied.

Questions People Ask

How fast can you get a plumber out?

It depends on the day, but urgent jobs go first. Call and we will tell you the soonest window we actually have rather than a guess. Scheduled work gets an arrival slot you pick on the call.

Do you do commercial as well as residential plumbing?

Yes. Homes, offices and local businesses across Lutz and the cities around it, including retail, restaurants and industrial.

What do I do if water is coming in right now?

Shut the nearest valve, or the main at the street, and call. We will walk you through it on the phone and get a technician moving at the same time.

The drain clears on its own eventually. Is cleaning it worth it?

Usually yes. A clog that clears itself is still a clog, and it comes back. Cleaning takes the buildup out so the line runs properly instead of nearly blocking every week.

Can you tell me whether to repair it or replace it?

That is the call we are there to make with you. We show you what we found, lay out the options, and tell you which one we would pick and why.

What is Black Ops Plumbing's license number?

Florida certified plumbing contractor license CFC1431007, held by the owner, Anthony Ugarte. It can be checked against the state register at myfloridalicense.com.

Where is Black Ops Plumbing located?

1308 Foxwood Dr, Lutz, FL 33549. The shop phone is 813-838-4193 and office hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 to 16:00. We answer 24/7. For an emergency outside those hours, call and we will tell you whether a technician can get to you that night.
