Black Ops Gives Back
Every year we pick one family in this area that needs us, and we bring other local businesses in alongside us. We cover the plumbing. Somebody else covers the landscaping, and somebody else covers the next thing. The family gets the whole job, not one piece of it.
It is not only about income
The picture people have is the poorest house on the street, and that is not really who this reaches. More often it is a family that was doing fine until something landed on them. A daughter with a terminal illness. The person who earns the money too sick to earn it. The year goes sideways and the house is the thing that stops getting attention.
We go in and try to make it comfortable again. That is the whole measure of it.
Three parts, and none of them are a coupon
Somebody tells us about them
A neighbor, a church, a teacher, a relative. Call the shop and say who they are and what the year has done to them. There is no form to fill in, because a family in that position is not a form.
We pick one, and we call the other trades
Plumbing is our part. The rest of it we hand to people we already work with, and they take their own piece. Between us the house gets handled rather than patched in one spot.
The work gets done, at no cost to them
Nothing to buy, nothing to sign up for, no catch waiting at the end of it. This is not a promotion and it is not priced into anybody else's invoice.
Roger started one of these before
Roger ran a give back program at a company he started years ago, and he will tell you plainly that it changed how that business was seen. People stopped bracing for the upsell. Anthony and Roger both wanted this one in place here, which is why it exists at a small shop rather than at a company with a marketing department.
If you know a family who should be this year's, the number is below. We would rather hear it from a person than read it in an inbox.
